Our homes sit in four quite different places, all within reach of Catania airport. Which one is right depends on what you want your days to look like. Here is how they compare.
Catania historic centre
Best for: walking everywhere, food, Baroque streets and evenings out.
From the airport: about 15 minutes.
Five apartments in the old town, all a short walk from Piazza Duomo.
On Via Crociferi, the city’s loveliest Baroque street, is Sikelia Palace, with three apartments in one historic building:
- Sikelia Luxury Home: frescoed rooms looking onto the church opposite. Sleeps 6.
- L’Attico di Sikelia: the top-floor penthouse above the Baroque rooftops. Sleeps 8.
- Il Giardino di Sikelia: on the ground floor, around a private garden, with two en-suite bedrooms. Sleeps 5.
Together they take up to 19 guests, each group with its own front door.
On Via Alessandro Manzoni, near Piazza Stesicoro and Via Etnea, are two apartments that share a terrace:
- Manzoni House: a two-level home with a mezzanine and a courtyard view. Sleeps 4.
- Civico 18: bright and modern, on two levels. Sleeps 6.
Booked together they take up to 10. See all our Catania homes.

By the sea: Aci Castello and Santa Maria la Scala
Best for: swimming, slow mornings and seafood suppers.
From the airport: 20 to 40 minutes.
Up the coast from Catania, the shore turns to black lava rock and small harbours.
- Casteldaci Sea House: a seafront flat on the Aci Castello promenade with a sea-view balcony. Sleeps 6.
- Casa Carretto: a ground-floor home with a flowered balcony on the harbour and the Norman castle next door. Sleeps 6.
- La Perla del Porticciolo: a studio for two right on the little harbour of Santa Maria la Scala, with a sea-view balcony, an outdoor shower and an outdoor kitchenette.
Aci Castello is about 20 to 25 minutes from the airport, and Santa Maria la Scala about 35 to 40. See our homes by the sea.

Mount Etna
Best for: families, nature, wineries and room to breathe.
From the airport: about 35 minutes.
L’Etna di Gianlelè is a villa at Lavinaio, Aci Sant’Antonio, on the lower slopes of the volcano. It has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a large garden and views of both Etna and the sea. It sleeps 6.
It is the best base for Etna excursions, and Catania is still within easy reach by car. See our Etna villa.

Noto: villas with a pool
Best for: groups, privacy and long days by the pool.
From the airport: just over an hour.
Noto, south of Catania, is one of Sicily’s great Baroque towns. Our two villas are in the green countryside around it.
- Villa Ficuzza: two adjacent houses around a private pool, so a large family or group can share the pool and garden and still have their own space. Sleeps 10.
- Villa Sjria: a private villa with a pool, a barbecue and indoor and outdoor kitchens. Sleeps 6.
You will want a car here; we can find one for you. See our Noto villas.
